She wanted to keep her options open while keeping me around just enough to not walk away. That kind of half-hearted love hurts more than losing someone outright, because it keeps you hoping for something that isn’t there. Now, I see it for what it was: a lesson. I learned that words don’t mean much without consistency, and that I deserve someone who doesn’t make me question where I stand. I’m not angry anymore just wiser. I’d rather have peace with the truth than comfort in a lie. Maybe she will get a song about her :)
